These easy breezy beef meatballs are studded with golden raisins and packed with herbs, and then simmered (quickly!) in a spiced tomato sauce that’s enriched with butter a la Marcella Hazan. What results is a very cozy, highly untraditional take on spaghetti and meatballs. The flavor profiles here lean more Middle Eastern than Italian, but at the end of the day, you’ll be eating a bowl of pasta with tomato sauce. The coolest thing about this recipe is undoubtedly the spiced breadcrumbs that top the meatballs, which are made from the same mixture that comprises the meatballs themselves (panko, egg, herbs and spices), playing double duty to maximize their impact.
